NEWS and ANNOUNCEMENTS For the latest class, event and workshop information go to Study With Hari or the NEW Calendar page. Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 7:33 AM EDT
Good Morning, Sat NamBeautiful days and flowering trees, spring.
Join me in the Botancial Gardens for study and relaxation, the magnolias are out and scenting the breezes, the weeping cherries are out, and the grass is getting greet. The cherry trees are in pre-bloom, a time to listen and watch the world come alive. New classes added! Village Yoga is moving ahead - organic transformation of a space! New classes on Friday at 4:00-5:30 pm and Saturday at 4:00-5:30pm. You can check out if I am in town by google calendar on my website. This summer I am staying in the city to meet with you and create opportunities to study yoga in depth and be together. Yogi Bhajan gave us the Kundalini Yoga - he brought it from the east with other masters, but he gave us something additional, very deep. He gave us, with the beauty of his aura, a belonging, a sense that we belong with each other. He could have done a million things, but he did this. He called us siblings of destiny - brothers and sisters. Somehow his aura filled us with this feeling and he was able to penetrate the isolation and loneliness that people felt during stressful times. Join me, in creating that aura together. Let's keep building an aura of spirit. The spring is the perfect time to contemplate such things. You have a sensory system, an ability to feel into the connectivity of everything, it is your nature to feel it, to reach into it, a natural curiosity that is as easy as sensing the scent of the magnolias in the breezes. Take the time to nuture that sense now, you will hear each other more easily, the mysteries will naturally open up to you through intuition, through listening you can unravel your entanglements and become free. Yoga is freedom, a slave to no one, a mind that can have an infinite horizon. Last night we stretched our auras, like the trees that stretch their fragrance into the corners of the hives of the bees, we have the sensory system to do the same. Now is not the time to be stuck, now is the time to stretch into yourself, true self, and enjoy being an angel! What is the point of not doing it? What is point of holding on so tight you cannot even feel your own breath and your own spine? There is no point to that! Even for a moment, let it go, go into your sensory system and enjoy yourself! Poetry on the SubwaySat Nam,
I have been sharing the story of the young poet who graced me with a poem on the subway the other day. What a grateful reminder! Here it is: Ballet & Breeze Wistful gaze and curious thought I watched the dreams as was my sport Wrapped in cotton, hair on high With a squint I catch their eye Sometimes they leave and walk on by A gentle gesture a lovely sigh sign of the time......... How amazing, right? There seems to be a signature of sorts but I cannot distinguish it. This is so beautiful, yay NYC! Love Hari Thursday, January 14th, 2010 5:48 PM EST

Quotes from Tonight's Conversation with Hari:You must have heard about the incredible way that the silk comes into being.
What a marvelous example of his wonders in creation! Only God could have invented something like this. It all begins with little grains, something like peppercorns....A the weather gets warmer and the mulberry tree starts to leaf out, the seeds are quickened with new life. It had seemed that these nuggets were dead, but now they stir and begin to nourish themselves on the sustenance of the mulberry leaves. Soon they grow to full size. That's when they settle down onto some twigs and begin to spin silk with their tiny mouths. They weave these little silken cocoons and trap themselves inside them.. After a while, they plump and homely worm emerges as a graceful white butterfly..... The silkworm is like the soul. She comes alive with the heat of the Holy Spirit and begins to accept the help God is offering. She starts to make use of the remedies available in spiritual community, thinks like ritual, sacred literature, inspiring talks.... And so when the silkworm is fully developed, it begins to build the house in which it will die {and become a butterfly}...So let's get on with it, my friends! Let's do the work quickly and spin the silken cocoon, relinquishing our self-centeredness and personal willfulness and giving up our attachement to wordly things. We have learned exactly what to do.. Let's do it! Let it die. Let the silkworm die. This is the natural outcome once it has done what it was created to do. Then we will see God, and see ourselves nestled inside his greatness like the silkworm in her cocoon. St. Teresa of Avila Sunday, January 10th, 2010 11:17 PM EST
Conversations with the Yogi and the PastorSat Nam!
I hope you New Yorkers are all warm and cozy tonight. We launched the first of the series of the Conversations with Hari programs tonight - Conversations with the Yogi and the Pastor. Pastor Lyndon Harris was the guest of honor and we welcomed about 25 people into the Parlor/Florida Room for a conversation - there were yoga students and newcomers, young and old together and the topic was "forgiveness". Just thinking the word, causes most people to just go inwards and give up, taking the easy road of revenge and anger, repeating stories over and over again of the pain and betrayals of life. Pastor Lyndon Harris is an amazing person, and has great insight into this topic - given his personal trials and his spiritual perspectives. Some insights from tonight - Forgiveness is stopping wanting to change the past. Great insight! How many times do you wish and fantasize that the past would be, could be, should have been different?? You cannot change the past, but you can take back your power, refuse to be beaten by fantasy and instead, to learn from and to head on meet and conquer reality. A big job, but the only one to do. I was deeply touched by the courage of the students to speak out and ask the most important questions of life, to reach out and help each other. I spent another day at the Guggenheim, the Kandinsky retrospective. I was mesmorized by the paintings and the art - the courage to break old boundaries and move into new territory - to paint music! Each human being has a vibration - a song - as frustrating as we can be to each other, this is our symphony - this is our theater - this is our play. These conversations are designed to help you reach out, find your voices and be fearless, communicate to impact reality, break the masks and be real. Nothing is move transforming than being in the presence of reality - all great art brings us there, and conversation, the songs of each of us, is great art. The conversations will continue - watch for the next ones. Lyndon and I will be continuing to develop them and provide a forum for everyone. Feedback welcome (email me). Thank you for making this happen! Love Hari Monday, January 4th, 2010 11:40 AM EST
January 4th - Still Keeping Up?Sat Nam all,
Just writing to let you know I am thinking of you. And, that the new year is a beginning, any let down you feel, remember - do not let yourself down, do not let anyone down, and do not participate in the let down of anyone - keep your smiles and your spirit, watch the play of life and ride the energy. Kundalini Yoga will give you the power to ride the energy of life, and not have the energy of life overwhelm you or ride you - this is a key - ride the energy of life, the energy is there.....surf through this week, stay light, share light, travel light, and be the light - even in this amazing cold spell in NYC!!! What a Moon, What a New Years Eve!Sat Nam
Thank you all for making New Years Eve so amazing and wonderful! We were of service to the neighborhood, and I met some local west villagers that just joined us and were so happy that we offered a place to celebrate, relax and enjoy this time. And for you yogis!...WOW, you are all so amazing, ready to go on the journey and bring in a new year of spirit, of love, of true intentions for positive change. The power of your chanting, the power of your meditation was absolutely knock me over blissful. Thank you to all who helped with this party, Thank you to Elizabeth, Lyndon, Amrit, Dharm - the Gongologist, all the volunteers - who helped keep everything beautiful and happy throughout the night. We didn't close down the party till 3:00 in the morning, and it was so cozy, so relaxed spending time with you all. I will send out an email with more but wanted to not let another minute go by without expressing my gratitude and congratulations to all. I discussed how St. John's is one of the oldest buildings in Manhattan. It was the center of the first community - the spiritual center of one of the oldest communities on our sacred island. What a way to start to turn the age by bringing such life, light and love into this sacred space as pioneers of spirit linking with the pioneers of spirit at the founding of this island. Indeed, we are moving the energy towards more and more light! And - if anyone took pictures, please let me know, it is just one detail I did not get included, and it would be amazing to have some kind of record of this event, and some pictures I could share with everyone. Love Hari Wednesday, December 30th, 2009 9:57 PM EST
Happy New Year!Sat Nam, Many blessings to you all. As we prepare for our New Years celebration, I am hearing from so many of you, those who can join us, those who are with us in spirit. I feel blessed that we have been offered such a graceful place to meditate during these meaningful and important times. I feel blessed that Dharm came from Millis with all these beautiful gongs to share a deeply meditative and healing experience for us, I am grateful that Pastor Lyndon will be with us to celebrate and that we, as yogis, can help bring a beautiful and peaceful energy to the sanctuary. Let's continue to keep up and celebrate. Gratitude in all times, no matter what. Love to you all, and you know that I mean that from my heart, it is an honor to share this journey with you all.

Here Comes the Moon - The New YearSat Nam,
After the longest day of the year - and a beautiful Solstice Celebration Class, Charlie assisting on singing bowls and bells - comes the Full Moon New Years Eve! The Sanctuary at Village Yoga @ 81 Christopher is warm - the additional room is ready for smaller courses and workshops, and our staff is preparing for New Years Eve. Thank you all so much for a beautiful surprise Birthday party - it was divine, a definite surprise, and absolutely fun, and you all know how much I like fun. Thank you. Dave has completed his CD, it sounds great and will be releasing it in the spring, Lyndon and I are planning the next steps for the healing center we are creating, I am still looking for a perfect space, open to all. This season has brought amazing people and love into my life, filled with hope and possibility. My family spent a joyful evening at Cafe Toci - (the opera restaurant - I talk about it all the time) with the best Opera singers, they know us now, and we all lasted till 1:00 am!! You must come with me sometime. Made snow angels in the snow after the storm - my hiking boots were in shock to be taken out of retirement. Loved watching the kids sled and will have the fastest and most amazing sled come the next storm. Ready for New Years Eve? Come and join us - meditate into the New Year, Clear the mind with Gong Immersion - Meditate and Create a new future for yourself and our world. Love Hari Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 10:56 PM EST
Peace tonight to you!Sat Nam,
So nice to see so many new old friends at class tonight! All the way from Westchester! Catherine's birthday added festivities and cookies. The kriya tonight was about finding harmony and balance, lots of standing asana's requiring all to hold a balalnce. There is a patient peace that comes from balancing asanas. Simple. Works every time. Remember - if you are looking for balance and harmony - do not forget to ask yourself, over and over again, in each situation - "where is the harmony? where is the balance". Ask and you shall receive. Yogi Bhajan taught that there is not shortage of supply, just a shortage of demand. That prayer comes from a heart without fear. Start breaking the news ---- we are hosting an AMAZING New Years EVE - Yoga Meditation and Gathering of Spirit at Village Yoga at St. John's!!! We already have a planning team and after I return from Kripalu - we will get started. Plenty of room for everyone - deep meditation and yoga over the midnight hour with Gong and tasty goodies. Lyndon Harris is on board to help us plan. I guess this will tell me how many of you are reading this news blog...if you are, take a moment and let me know! Let's see how this news spreads from this blog - (ok I did let people know tonight that we are planing the party) The gong was singing through the 50' ceilings tonight. This new gong is finding her voice. Watch for my antique second gong coming soon! Blessings to you all, Happy Birthday Catherine! Hari Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 10:26 AM EST
Last NightSat Nam,
Last night we rescheduled Monday class as there was a program for Krystalnacht at St. John's. It was in commemoration of the night of broken glass, when violence broke out and escalated into the Holocaust. I was invited to meet and participate with Cantors, singers, dancers, clergy, and Luna Kaufman - a survivor launching her book which was 20 years in the making. We shared a night of amazing opera arias, to open the heart and sooth the soul, straightforward talk in memory of this time, and elevated prayers and hopes and shared commitment to - in the words of Luna Kaufman "Join me and help me make this world a better world". After all that Luna experienced, she continues to serve the kindness that is possible in each human heart. I could not sleep, grateful to Pastor Lyndon Harris and all that made last night so divine and sacred - I was filled with the shakti of a community of people, perhaps differentiated by religion, but not really, standing in witness, committed to consciousness and with totally open hearts. The Bhakti of compassion and remembrance, the shakti of committed action towards peace. On behalf of that evening, I repeat Luna's words with you - 'Let's make this a better world". I told her, I am with her! Love Hari Luna Kaufman's book - Luna's Life is available now. Sunday, November 8th, 2009 12:12 PM EST
Hope you are reading!Sat Nam,
So much new happiness! And many challenge too, we are meeting them. I hope you are reading this blog, as I am going to report weekly with meditations, yoga, news. My prayer is that this becomes a conversation - so please let me know what could help you, and I can serve that. We are creating a new paradigm of yoga studio at St. John's - Village Yoga - and a healing center. Lyndon Harris and I have visions to open the space to more and more people for healing and yoga and programs of spirit and heart. Please feel free to contact me on being part of this vision. It will grow organically and yes, I am still looking for space for the perfect yoga home - once again - a new paradigm that will need a new frame of mind, for creativity and community. Spirit is rising, so if you feel it too, keep in touch, communicate. You will see, beauty can be created by your thought, your work, and your gaze. You can become AKAL MOORAT - the ultimate asana in yoga - when you become the timeless face of God, the timeless face of infinity - when you reflect your deepest hearfelt authenticity. Love you all - and you know that! Peace................. Hari AND - check out the schedule - more classes are coming after I return to Kripalu - (last call for that divine relaxation in the Berkshires) - remember to read the permanent postings and scroll down for events - these are updated often. Dear Beloved Ones,
As we enter these holy days of Rosh Hashonna and Yom Kippur, it is traditional to meditate on endings and beginnings. Interesting the way it is organized...first you celebrate a new year, apples and honey for sweetness. Then you take the time to meditate, deeply on how you can be a more conscious person, how you can learn to forgive yourself and others - really - deeply in your heart. Then you let go, and become present again. It is a vision quest, a pilgrimage of the heart and mind and body, being willing to go into the wilderness and be lost in the thoughts you never really wanted to visit, the memories stored. and let go. Time to be fearless. Time to let go, to find the happiness that is your birthright. To have the courage to go into the wilderness, knowing that - even though all questions are not answered, even though the future is not clear to you, there is a guiding light in your heart. Take the time to meditate, and to forgive. Life is forgiving. Life is for giving........ and for dancing! We are always together. See you soon! Love to all, Light to All, Peace to All Love Hari Tuesday, September 15th, 2009 9:16 PM EDT

The Moon Centers - Woman's Kundalini Yoga Training at Kripalu - March 2009THE MOON CENTERS
Each woman´s psyche naturally contains the entire cosmos. The challenge is to unleash this power into the practical flow of our daily lives and to bring the accompanying understanding into our conversations with other women, with our families, and into our communities. The practice of Kundalini Yoga is a powerful tool in this process. It brings you peace of mind, harmonious relationships and the realization that you are a unique part of a legacy of timeless beauty. I hope this letter finds you all healthy, happy and peaceful. Dave and I are both thriving in NYC; bringing music and yoga to all. Through the power of technology Dave is now teaching students in Ireland, Boston, Columbia and more. And I feel blessed in every moment to be able to teaching and to be part of Golden Bridge NYC as it continues to grow and serve. As most of you know I am especially dedicated to bringing the amazing teachings of Kundalini Yoga for Women out into the world. That is why I am happy to announce that, in cooperation with the Kripalu Yoga Center, I will be launching a new series of educational programs for women. The first part in this powerful training will happen at Kripalu, this March! March (Sunday through Friday) 22-27 - 2009 This training will focus on understanding and experiencing the Moon Centers, the vital subtle bodies that uphold the flow of a woman´s energy. This first of its kind workshop will take the time necessary to focus and explore these vital Lunar Centers, little known to even the most experienced yoga practitioners. The Moon Centers are 11 specific areas of the body through which energy moves in the course of one moon cycle. The activation of each moon center results in the manifestation of particular qualities, and the energy in each woman travels a unique pattern. The study of moon centers dates back to Vedic times and was taught in the West by Yogi Bhajan. Understanding the effects of the moon centers can empower your relationship with your body, allow you to use all aspects of your mind, and free you from hidden agendas that block you from fulfilling and loving relationships, experiencing your natural high self-esteem and beauty, and yes - better sex. This study is transforming for all, and crosses all yoga styles. • For students of yoga, learn to empower your practice from the very beginning. • For yoga teachers, learn this powerful teaching to help women supercharge their yoga practice and healing. • For women of all ages new to yoga, start your study with a powerful traditional and healing women´s perspective that you can share with all the women in your life. So please join me for powerful experience of Kundalini yoga and meditation for deep healing and relaxation that will activate the healing and transformative powers within you. And guys – if you are receiving this, this first training is for women only. Sorry! Please share with the women you love. They will love it! (This training stands alone but is a part of Illumined by Hari ™, a lifestyle concept built on the legacy of Kundalini Yoga for women, an ongoing conversation and educational program about beauty, sex, health, happiness and spirituality.) An important note to you all Conversations with Hari ™ Please write to me if you have any questions. This training is for you, and is part of a larger conversation between women that started in NYC. The larger part is that I request your participation and feedback, your requests, and your creativity. How we can reach out to women worldwide for healing and service? Women create peaceful solutions through the power of their conversations! Your word creates your world. Back in the news!Sat Nam dear dear friends!
It has been a wonderful journey from Boston to New York City. Dave and I are cozy in our apartment here and the yoga center - Golden Bridge Yoga NYC - is one year old! I am happy to be getting back to keeping in touch with all of you through this website news blog and look forward to hearing from you too. New York is a wonderful city, Dave is performing weekly in Harlem on Sundays starting February 27th at Big Apple Jazz EZ Woodshed, 131st Street and Adam Clayton Powell Blvd. near the 2,3,D and B trains. Golden Bridge is buzzing with energy and we are enjoying yoga in the city. My dear dear new friend, Kalyani is leading Sivananda Hatha classes at Golden Bridge and manages the center with me. Sat Nam - Heading to Ghost Ranch, New MexicoThis morning I am heading to Ghost Ranch New Mexico, for the Level One Teacher Training Intensive. It is so beautiful here in New Mexico, the blue skies, beautiful cloud formations bringing winds and rains. As I meditate this morning I am sending out a net or prayers to all. All who need healing, all who are in fear, all who are working daily to keep up in a time of challenge. As the staff and students prepare to live together for the next three weeks, as we strive to create a community of peace and mutual respect, we will all keep in mind that our prayers and actions can effect the entire planet.
"If there is a power to believe, to serve people with compassion, whatever you were, whatever you are, you are the holiest of the holy, if you have achieved a state of consciousness where you have compassion. God is a slave to people of compassion." Yogi Bhajan - The Teachings of Yogi Bhajan #607 Keep meditating, understand this world through compassion and you will have the power to see clearly. Stay strong with yoga kriyas and exercise, you will have the power to remember your compassion. Keep up. Peace, Hari Sunday, June 18th, 2006 3:23 PM EDT
Solstice in the CitySat Nam dear souls, I hope you all are doing well and enjoying the coming solstice. I have had the pleasure of having two visitors from
Jakarta, Indonesia. These two wonderful yoga and meditation teachers found me in Manhattan after reading my book in Singapore. They are talented and deeply inspirational women. I taught them Kundalini Yoga while they visited New York so they could share it with students back home. We hope to stay in touch and both Dave and I have prayers to visit them in Singapore or Jakarta and teach. A few days ago, a beautiful yoga teacher left her body. Shiela McIntyre taught and studies Kundalini Yoga in the Newton, MA area for many years. She leaves us with a powerful message. Throughout her illness she laughed, fought hard, kept fighting for and healing and teaching others, and kept a strong and sense of humor and spirit. Chant AKAAL for Shiela, bless yourself and the gift of life. I am going to donate a beautiful bench to the Yoga Center in Millis, MA in her memory (I told her the idea before she died and she loved it!). If you would like to participate, feel free to conatct me by e-mail. Yoga and meditation is everywhere. The city is heating up as the Solstice approaches. As you enjoy New Mexico at our solstice celebration or meditate in the space of your heart, may you all feel uplifted from the power of the sun's energy. May you all feel the heat of the sun - the prana of life - and my it help you transform all fears to compassion, all confusion to understanding and clarity, all pain to healing. Peace, Hari Saturday, May 27th, 2006 1:24 PM EDT
SummertimeSat Nam dear ones,
I am happy to be writing again. Dave and I are well in New York City. Dave's school is going well, and I am getting settled here. During the past few months we have been helping our family with healing. My little nephew was quite ill. The experience brought us closer to the power of our yoga practice. We are blessed with having studies with Yogi Bhajan and blessed again to have a strong practice of Kundalini Yoga and a supportive community. Thank you to all who have helped us along the way. My nephew is growing and glowing at this time! Summer is coming and the city is heating up. The Teacher Training in Millis just graduated, with an amazing graduation day! We organized a fund-raising class for Sat Kartar's Kundalini Yoga for Youth. The graduating class organized a silent auction, a yoga class and dinner for friends, family and community. A huge success, and wonderful day, for a deserving cause. In two weeks, the NYC Teacher Training at Pranmandir graduates. It has been a blessing to teach at Pranamandir and the training there is just divine. Thursday night class at Pranamandir is growing and exciting. We just finished a series on the Chakras and are moving into a ten week series on the Ten Bodies. Join us anytime. Dave and I send you our love. We are creating a jazz/yoga chakra in NYC and hope to see/hear from you all! Love, Hari Monday, January 23rd, 2006 12:49 AM EST
Sat Nam.
What a wonderful afternoon yoga workshop at the Wainright House in Westchester! The Westchester Yoga Teachers Association so graciously hosted me and I had the opportunity to meet many new teachers and students. The yoga teachers in the Westchester area have created a vital community - very inspiring. Ravi Hari from Golden Temple Yoga Center in Katonah came as well as Sat Darshan Kaur, and Laura - two Kundalini Yoga teachers from the area. I am grateful to Carol Stephanelli, President of the association and a fellow Yoga Alliance Board member, for making me feel so at home in my new neighborhood. We definitely raised the roof with energy! For those of you from the workshop, the meditation we did is posted in this news blog on Jan 19th, so you can find the beautiful script for it there, just scroll back one news entry. For those who would like the kriya and "warm up" meditaiton (and warm us up it did!), please simply e-mail me. Once again, thank you for your kind reception, I look forward to getting to know you all. Peace, Hari Thursday, January 19th, 2006 10:55 PM EST
Sat Nam and good evening all, Greetings from a warm NYC. Today I secured my United Nations pass, and am happy to be joining the 3HO NGO team. Sat Kirn and I had a wonderful lunch at the UN today after getting our passes. I look forward to representing 3HO's work to uplift women, work for peace and healing in the world. Since the United Nations is right down the street, I am doubly blessed! I was working for peace while my brother and nephew live life in Tel Aviv, dealing with the aftermath of a suicide bombing. Sat Kirn and I walked by the most beautiful wall hanging in a hallway of the UN, showing picutres of children with their poetry about harmony. Some of the children felt harmony was like having dinner with Mom, or hearing the wind, singing songs, or cooking chocolate cookies with Dad.
Our world is an experience in polarity. Kundalini Yoga gives you the strength and grit to keep up and maintain grace in even the most ungraceful situations. I am grateful to Yogi Bhajan for bringing this powerful technology to us. May we all have the blessing to give help when we can, ask for help when we need it, and live for each other in harmony. Keep up everyone and keep in touch. Try this meditation. It brings so much light to you. When you are filled with light, you can be light, you can share light, lighten up and stay strong. Meditation for Love without Attachment, For Kindness, Forgiveness, Sweetness, and Knowing that God is Within You This meditation uses the power of visualization to help you feel light, happy, and create a sense of inner strength. With a strong inner light, you can communicate from your heart and bring honesty to your relationships. You may find it difficult to do this when you are feeling negative, but if you persevere and simply repeat the words aloud, or read them, you can change your mental state. If you repeat these words often enough, they become part of your reality. Before you do this meditation, you may want to record the verbal part of the meditation, or have a friend read it to you. If you read it often, you may memorize it! Sit in Easy Pose. Place your left hand in gyan mudra and rest it on your left knee with your arm straight. Use your right thumb to cover your right nostril and begin to breath deeply through your left nostril. Concentrate at the top of your head. Take a vow for yourself: ?After this day, if I have had any negativity toward any conscious soul, consciously or unconsciously I now forgive and I am kind to the whole universe. I am I am and I am a kind being. I am I am I am a beautiful being, a great being, a truthful being. Kindness and love, I am filled with it. That is what I am. All love, all smiles, I am I am. I came to go, I go to come. I brought nothing. I will carry nothing. Therefore I am a free being. I don?t want any attachments. Attachments will make me heavy. I want to be light. I am I am I am very light, light light lighter than a feather, lighter than a rose petal, lighter than anything in this room, lightest of the light, lighter than light, completely light. I am a living truth. I am a living reality. God is within me. Let me go within and see God. I am a pure manifestation of God.? Now inhale, exhale, and relax. The time of this meditation is simply however long it takes to speak it. Friday, December 16th, 2005 7:20 PM EST
Sat Nam everyone! So glad to be back home from my travels. I now have internet regularly, free from the power surges in India :). Life is good here in NYC. Dave has a steady gig at the Rockwood Music Hall on Sundays 5-7 in the lower east side and it has become a wonderful place for yogis and music lovers to enjoy time and space and a community outing for dinner afterward. If you are in NYC, or visiting, let me know, drop by and say hi to Dave and I.
I started a Teacher Training in Millis, MA at the Baba Siri Chand Yoga Center, and start a Teacher Training this weekend at Pranamandir in NYC. The weather here is frosty and the city has that holiday spirit. It is really wonderful. I made so many new friends and met inspired students and yogis at the Ghost Ranch, Omega, and India Teacher Trainings. The teachings of Yogi Bhajan reach so many, heal so many, and I am blessed to be part of this worldwide community. Check out the class listings and let me know if you are in NYC. Glad to be home. Much love to you all. If you have not signed up to be part of my mailing list, give it a try if you like. I send out meditations, messages, yoga sets, and schedules of workshops and events of interest. May we all continue to uplift each other, smile with kindness, and enjoy and appreciate each and every breath. Hari Tuesday, July 5th, 2005 9:30 AM EDT
Sat Nam,
Here is a wonderful story by Iris, a young woman of 21 years of wisdom. She is just graduating the New York Teacher Training course this coming weekend. " just got back from my Gram's house and a beautiful morning of Yoga with her and her friend. Lastnite we were at dinner and my gram said how she wasnt going to be attending Church this summer because the time they change the service is a bit too early for her Sunday... So I was like well I'll come over and teach yoga instead... I was expecting her to be like "no darling, thats too much, maybe some other time." But to my surprise she excitedly said "That sounds wonderful darling! What time?" ... Thats all she talked about at dinner was how she counldnt wait to do yoga, as her boyfriend sat there looking scared knowing that he was going to be joining us in the morning. So this morning I went over and my gram was there waiting for me in her pretty Pj's ...first things first, i had to look at jewerly her boyfriend made and he gave me a beautiful necklace, then I set up ur area in the sitting room which is beautiful and over looks the entire valley and river. We began our class and Hari, I must say it was the coolest thing! I did the Basic spinal energy kriya and the Pavan, Pavan meditation~ They looked like they had been doing kundalini for years. She has a big tropical bird in that room and the bird was loving the whole thing ruffling its feathers, letting out bird noises here and there~ It was so Fun~!!! After we chanted the final Saaaaat Namm, my gram shouts "Sat Nam!" And said she wanted to do this every morning~ Her boyfriend was just like, "ummm, ok hun", he was more interested in showing me more of his jewerly than talking about Yoga. Teaching and watching how people experience Kundalini is totally amazing. I love it~! " There are so many inspiring stories of how teaching and practicing Kundalini Yoga helps people heal, stay inspired, and grow. Please continue to share your stories with me! Peace, Hari Sunday, July 3rd, 2005 12:41 PM EDT

Sat Nam,
I was blessed to attend the Summer Solstice Sadhana Celebration in New Mexico. I enjoy connecting with our extended international community, so many greetings! When it was time for the Native American Healing Walk, I was talking wtih Sahaj Kaur - Shelly. She is a wonderful teacher and artist and assisted at the Boston Teacher Training last year. We walked together, dedicating the walk to our husbands healing. We were meditating the entire walk - we were chanting the healing mantra or meditating and stopped at the altars and sent our husbands blessings. It was a relaxing and deeply meditative time. Quiet time, with about 1,000 solstice participants. We walked on our heels the entire time, dedicating each step to prayer and meditative healing. I finished the walk, Sahaj went on her way. I met back with Shanti Shanti Kaur (she runs the Guru Ram Das Center for Medicine and Humanology). During dinner I recieved a call - I left my cell phone on by mistake! It was from Dave. He said, "It was interesting, but a short time ago, I just felt better, the symptoms have just lifted, they have gone." This is not the first time that the power of prayer has shown itself to me so directly. Prayer and meditation are both powerful ways to remind yourself that you are part of a larger cosmic universe. If you can innocently, honestly, and intimately dwell in that reality, all the creative possibilities of life and healing open up for you. The heart of healing is within your own heart. Send me your solstice stories, healing stories. We are here to inspire each other. Take a mind-body vacation this summer and mediate a few minutes each day. Then enjoy the flow of creative energy - direct towards your dreams - your destiny. Love, Hari Monday, June 20th, 2005 11:32 PM EDT
Sat Nam, It has been some time since I have shared some news with you all. The move to New York was wonderful and filled with activity and all the challenges and excitement of a big move. For some time Dave was ill, and I was concentrating on family. Dave is doing great now, getting healthy and smiling and telling all the jokes he can! New York is amazing. I am exploring this wonderful city every day. I just returned from the Summer Solstice Sadhana celebration in New Mexico. I was blessed to participate in the Peace Prayer Day celebration and the Healing Walk in the tradition of the Navajo Indians who cared for the land before Yogi Bhajan helped make it our new home. I will be making an entry in the next few days about the actual miracle from that healing walk, and getting another newsletter out to all of you on the mailing list this week.
I am happy to be back on line and back in touch. Thank you all for your prayers that helped Dave in his healing journey. Through all of it, he continued to perform, teach and play the amazing music he creates. Goodnight for now. In God we Dwell. Love, Hari Wednesday, April 20th, 2005 7:30 AM EDT
Sat Nam,
I want to thank everyone for the kind welcome to NYC at the Universal Force Yoga Center workshop on April 10th. Dave and I enjoyed the dinner and the company, and the students and staff at Universal Force are so kind with many smiles! As promised, here is the script for the relaxation that I lead, a script from Yogi Bhajan to help you relax you mind and body, and feel your expanded consciousness. The part in parenthesis is my explanation of what he means by relaxing the tattwas into the tattwas (primal elements into primal elements). I will add the kriya we did as well. It is a warm day in New York. I am preparing to go to Omega on Sunday. As I connect with the students by phone, from the US, from Singapore, from Paraguay, I feel the heart that we all share. Keep in touch, everyone. Note - we are teaching a woman's weekend in Millis, at the Yoga Center there, with a two night overnight stay (one night option too!). Last weeekend of July - July 30-31. Watch for the announcement on the Events site. Enjoy this relaxation script. Repeat it to yourself on tape and listen as you relax. Your mind loves the sound of your own voice. Blessings, Hari ?Relax in total existence, relating under the total ordinance of your higher consciousness. Each cell of your body must relax. You are going to be a totally, extremely relaxed individual. Absolutely relax, relax with dignity, with perfect heart and consciousness and sweetness and beauty. Feel every cell of your body relaxing, deeper and deeper, steadier and steadier and steadier and steadier. Let everything go, let all the tension go. When you relax your body, God will prevail because of the praanaa - the energy of life - that gives you absolute health. Oh dear one, just relax, feel that the fingertips are falling away, the wrists are going away, everything is breaking. Shatter your body into all its cells, build it up, vibrate your tattvaas into tattvaas ? (vibrate the aspects that are your basic elements ? earth ? water ? fire and ether or space. Relax you earth element ? your body ? into the earth, relax all the blood and water in your body into the oceans, relax all the fire ? your digestion and ability to project and cut through ? into the fire of the sun, relax the air of you ? your breath ? and let it merge into the universal breath, relax the ether in you ? your subtlety ? and let it merge into the cosmos.) Let your mind collaborate with you at this moment. Relax your body, your eyes, your eyebrows, your cheeks, your chin, your neck, your head, shoulders, ribcage, belly and everything in it, waistline, thighs, shins, ankles, feet, toes, everything. Let the Divine flow through you. Allow yourself to receive It, every part of It is yours. It is your privilege and you must have that privilege. Be extremely relaxed and use your mind to relax yourself. The ability to relax is the highest power of the self; therefore, please command yourself to relax. Become the master of the self, let this physical self obey your mental self and the praanaa, the soul, must prevail through you.? (Yogi Bhajan) Monday, March 28th, 2005 12:48 AM EST
Sat Nam.
May this communication find you healthy, happy, and peaceful. My new newsletter will be going out on Tuesday this week! Sign up on this website to receive a copy. I just loved being with everyone at the NWH Wellness Center! and the Yoga Center Open House. Thank you all for such a wonderful welcome home:) Today was a beautiful day in New York. Dave had a wonderful jazz gig in the Lower East Side. It was so peaceful today. The old tenament buildings evoked feelings of history and people enjoyed the warmer temperatures and walked about. Dave and I walked for some time ourselves. I was able to help Sat Jiwan Singh (he just donated his kidney to his little sister!) - owner of Kundalini East Yoga Studio, by teaching for him on Saturday morning. What a surprise when Melissa, who is in the Boston Yoga Teacher Training walked into class! What a small world! The class was wonderful, filled with Spring energy and smiles and challenge of course. Thank you to the students of Kundalini East for their kind welcome to New York. I hope to see you all again soon. I will be at the Millis Baba Siri Chand Yoga Center this coming Sat and Sunday for Teacher Training, and a photoshoot for my new book. Dave is doing great! He had an inspiring Master Class last Wednesday on Improvisation in Classical Indian Music. I feel so much gratitude to be in a city with so much energy, hope and friendliness. Spring is on the way. I have my first workshop at Universal Force Yoga Studio in NYC on April 10th..check out the 'study with Hari' page on the website for more information. Life is good everyone. Enjoy each breath, that gratitude will give you altitude over any pain. Love, Hari Thursday, February 17th, 2005 2:44 PM EST

I am in NYC now, and had a beautiful first day...it was about 60 degrees and I spent the day walking the city, particulary Christos Gates in Central Park. Just a perfect spring energy day with thousands of people enjoying the park. A good way to start off NYC life - walking for 4-1/2 hours, discovering the city. Dave is great and we are happy to be together again. He was touched by all the kindness and love and enjoyed meeting the many students and friends at the party. I will continue to keep up with you, so keep up with me, enjoy the classes with Dharm, Ann, and Lee - Jagat Prakash. Back to unpacking boxes:) Love, Hari Thursday, February 17th, 2005 2:40 PM EST

Sat Nam. Quote for the Day from Yogi Bhajan. "The purpose of Life is tommorow. And what is tommorow? Tommorow is getting up and knowing who you are, knowing God is with you, and knowing you can handle yourself with grace." Master the fears and insecurities and addictions associated with weaknesses in the lower chakras, and let the energy of awareness cut through the veils of illusion so you can live in the reality of knowing who you are, realizing you are not alone, and knowing you can find the strength to keep up and maintain a heart-centered projection. Experience this qutoe through your practice. Meditate. Suggested practice - Repeat the quote and pracrtice Sat Kriya.
Peace all around, Hari Saturday, January 22nd, 2005 6:33 PM EST
Sat Nam all,
What a perfect evening to do yoga and meditaiton. We are in the middle of a blizzard here in the northeast. I hope everyone here is cozy and safe. Take a moment to appreciate the fact that we cannot control our outer environments. We can work on our inner environment. Meditate and enjoy the activity of mother nature, as she expressed herself! Meditate and create a clarity and light, just like the diamond sparkling snow. It is a perfect evening for meditation. Let me know if you did a special winter blizzard meditation. Send me your storm stories and I will post them if you wish. Yogi Bhajan taught us that we are here to inspire each other. I hope we can use this news posting section of the website for that purpose. I can post your questions and stories without your name, or with your name, let me know. Stay warm, safe, and ..tonight is a good night to meditate. Let's bless each other and be grateful for our breath, our lives, and our challenges. Love, Hari Friday, January 21st, 2005 7:00 AM EST
Sat Nam everyone,
Greetings on a cold cold winter day in New England. Our windchill factor is 15 degrees below zero! Brrr. The ground is covered with snow and it is cold and beautiful. The warm hearts of yoga classes this week are keeping us all cozy and uplifted. We did a great workout on Tuesday night, the New Lungs and Circulation Kriya - to counter the cold and open the lungs and heart and end with a prayer for empowerment and peace for our world. Keep up, keep warm, keep your smiles. We have two parties coming up! Newton Wellesley Wellness Center is hosting a party for me - celebrating 15 years of classes on Tuesday Feb 1, 6:30-9:00pm. Come if you like, it will be a nice time. Also, Lena is hosting a party on Feb 11th, Friday evening from 6:30-9:30 - children welcome - and all welcome. If you are not on my e-mail list, just sign up on this website, and make sure you include your e-mail address:)! I will keep in touch with newsletters and events schedules. Let's celebrate the changes together. If you wan to attend any of these parties, and don't have directions, I will post them here, or e-mail me. Blessings to you all. Love, Hari Friday, January 14th, 2005 10:50 AM EST
NEWS FLASH -
Sat Nam dear souls. By now most of you know that my husband, Dave, and I are moving to New York City. Dave founded "The Dave Frank School of Jazz" on 57th street and is just a natural New Yorker, loving the creativity, possibilites and pace of the city. I am excited to join him and teach in New York, continue to work with 3HO ( the non-profit organization that sponsors Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan) My prayer is to contribute the the yoga community in Manhattan. I will still be on "staff" at Newton Wellelsey Wellness Center as a consultant and teaching workshops at their new Waltham location - about every 6 weeks is the plan. I will also be working with Manjit Kaur and the community in Millis, MA, our Yoga Center, to build the most cozy retreat center on the east coast! Watch for a Woman's Weekend in July and other courses. I will still be on staff for the Boston Teacher Training. Keep up, everyone. We are all one always. Parties are coming up to celebrate change:)!, sign up with your e-mail on this site and you will receive an invitation. I will be keeping in touch by e-mail newsletter and visits. Sat nam, Greetings from Anandpur Sahib India. The teacher training course here has just a few more days to go. We took the students to the Golden Temple in Amritsar. I could hardly stand when I saw the temple of gold. When I bowed on the marble, I felt I could sleep there forever, it was such a relaxing and healing environment. I was floating in the vibration of the chanting and the hazy weather. The temple was beyond description and dipping in the healing waters left my body buzzing and vibrating with energy. I will be returning for a few days before I go home and will spend more time in the bliss. Sending love to you all, Hari

Sat Naam Everyone! As promised, I am sending you prayers and mail from India. It has taken us over a week to get the e-mail running so before the electricity goes out, or the internet crashes..I am writing to you. India is a country of contrasts and wonderful devotional people. I am feeling the full experience of the home of yoga and Kundalini Yoga and Sikh Dharma, my spiritual practice. I am meeting wonderful people, and our course, the Teacher Training, is going well. The students are from all over the world. Yesterday we spent the day in the local town, Anandpur Sahib, in the Punjab area of India. There are many Sikh Temples here, and we are visiting them. The energy in the temples is exquisite, prayerful and spirited. The devotion of the sangat (community) is deep. We can here the music from the temples almost all night long.
A few days ago was the festival of lights...Divali, here in India. The town was decorated in lights and fireworks, and candles in all the windows, big parties and chanting all night. I have traveled to many places, and there is no place like India. Your senses are awakened with the earth, the temples, the foods, the colors, and the depth of the smiles of the children. I was able to visit a Khalsa School, children were doing a special performance. I was welcomed with smiles kindness. Everywhere you are welcomed with tea. I look forward to seeing you in Boston again, I will be home soon, after traveling to Amrtisar and the Golden Temple, and Dharamsala - the home of the Dali Lama. I will bring your prayers to the Golden Temple and send you the energy of the devotion from this magical place. Much love to you all, Hari Sunday, October 10th, 2004 1:09 PM EDT
Sat Nam to everyone. The beauty of this season here in NEw England is amazing. The trees are ablaze here at Omega Institute. Both students and staff are grateful for the time to meditate and do yoga during this shift for Yogi Bhajan. For seventeen days after the passing, is is sikh tradition that the person travels through time and space and says good-bye to all of us. Meditate and enjoy this time. Create an altar of the leaves and improtant symbols in your life and dedicate your prayers to all who need healing..including yourself. This is such a powerful time to meditate for all Kundalini Yogis. As we all meditate, I will meet you in the ethers and we can create a healing aura around the world. I look forward to seeing you all in Boston when I returen, and will be off to India soon after that. Keep in touch, Love Hari

Sat Nam dear souls,
Greetings from Omega. It is beautiful here, and we are having a great course. Some news today. Wednesday night, Yogi Bhajan left his body. We are celebrating his amazing life here at Omega by making wonderful altars of leaves and fall flowers and plants. The sanctuary here is beautiful and we did chanting all morning and a wonderful walk in the woods. Please take a moment to chant "AKAAL", meaning deathless, to show your appreciation for the teachings of Kundalini Yoga, we have been blessed to have such wonderful times together centered around his teachings, his humor and his love. Blessings to you all! I am in a grateful state of love and meditation and send you peace and happiness. May the light of yoga - the light of Guru Ram Das - be with you always. Love, Hari Saturday, October 2nd, 2004 7:01 AM EDT
Sat Nam everyone. After just spending the night in a deep sleep, and a beautiful morning, I am sitting in the Omega Cafe. There is no cell phone service here, but the cafe has wireless internet! So, I can communicate with you all. It is beautiful here, and I have met so many kind people already. A very quiet, relaxing campus with a brook running through it and gardens. My room looks over a hill lines with maple trees that promis to put on a great show of blazing color over the next few weeks. Classes start on Sunday. Remember to smile..you meet so many wonderful people when you smile. Keep receptive to the kindness that is out there, let it balance the challenge. Fall is a time to meditate and contemplate, a good time to fall in love with yourself again. Keep up everyone, and I will keep in touch! Love, Hari

Sat Nam everyone! It is good to be back in New England. The Master's Touch in New Mexico was energizing and uplifting. 60% of the students were from outside of the United States so it was a Kundalini Yoga United Nations! Everyone got through the intensity of the training and the students look forward to teaching in their home towns. We now have a growing community in Australia and a new teacher in Scotland! It was a blessings to meet all the students and hear all the world perspectives and create peace together.
The next big happening is the New England Kundalini Yoga Festival! This year will be a special year with guests that include Gurmukh and Snatam Kaur and her musicians. Many of you have been meditating and listening to her music in class and will just "fly" with the real live hearfelt and uplifting mantras at the festival. Gurmukh will bring the festival energy and great stories. Our beloved Gurucharan Singh will uplift all as usual! I have the great honor of directing a Teacher Training in India this November. It will be small training of 35 students and Guru Dass Singh and Guru Dass Kaur will join me. What a team! There are still a few spots open if you want to join in on the adventure. I am so happy to see the students here in New England and touch base in New York too. You are dear souls and keep keeping up every year. Let's continue to bring the heavens to this earth and live for each other with each breath. Love, Hari Sunday, July 25th, 2004 2:22 PM EDT
Sat Nam everyone. Just an update to let you know what's happening. I am off in a few weeks to direct the Master's Touch teacher training residential program in New Mexico. You can arrive by sunset, we will serve a nice dinner (remember that GREAT food:) between 7-8 and have food and a cozy situation for whenever you arrive. Morning yoga on Saturday and breakfast. The one night option - arrive at 10:00am on Saturday. Both are organized to help you have a great weekend. See "Study with Hari - Special Events" for prices etc. Here are some words from Sampuran Kaur on the Woman's Programs Yogi Bhajan came to America in the late 60's and was witness to the cultural revolution happening at that time. He was shocked to learn that women were referred to as "chicks". It was a reference too far off from the image of his own stately, powerful mother and grandmother. He determined that he would start a training program for women to turn them from chicks to eagles! To learn how to be noble in principle and spirit. It was to this end that Yogi Bhajan created Women's Camp some 28 years ago. It was an 8 week program where women would take a break from their normal lives and families and focus that time on growing and learning and serving their spirits. It was a very special time where Yogi Bhajan shared all kinds of Kundalini Yoga technology for women to care, respect and nurture themselves. He taught women what they should eat; how to understand the male psyche; how to communicate with their partners; how to find fulfillment; how to deal with their emotions; how to get rid of insecurity and nuerosis; and how a woman must sweat, mediate and laugh every day! It is these special women's teachings from these last 28 years that provide a large knowlege base that serves women all over the world today. Women's Camp still continues with week long programs in the summer and fall as well as many weekend courses around the country. Still encouraging women to take back their self-esteem and their own rightful power in grace, dignity and divinity. Join us! Tuesday, March 9th, 2004 2:49 PM EST
Sat Naam everyone! I just returned from a wonderful time in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Bodhi Tree Yoga Center. The community there is warm, friendly and so welcoming. We had such a divine night of chanting and an inspiring afternoon of Kundalini Yoga on Sunday. I visited the best restaurants..yummy including the wonderful food and hospitality of Gail Goforth at her new home. Lesa is filled with energy and wisdom for teaching and sharing Kundalini Yoga with the Charlotte community and she and I, along with Robin and Gail will keep in touch forever I imagine! Keep up the spirit there, I hope to return soon and spend more time in your beatiful city. Thank you for your kindness. If anyone is ever in Charlotte, visit the yoga studio and enjoy the energy there! I return back to Boston and it is snowing. Folks in Charlotte - please keep in touch like we promised each other!

A great quote by Yogi Bhajan - "As you think, so you are. The mind guides your actions and emotions. If you do not have a good road map, you do not know where you are going." The daily practice of yoga and meditaiton gives you a chance to teach your mind a new habit - linking with infinity, joy, and happiness instead of chaos and confusion. Give it a try. Take some long deep breaths today. Chant Sat Nam. Stop the confusion and see the sunshine!

Sat Nam everyone. Greetings on a day when spring is just peeking through. I was told a crocus pushed its way through some earth in Concord, MA and the robins are returning. We made it to feel the spring again!
We had a wonderful class in Cambridge on Thursday night and a conversation about the sutras of the Aquarian Age. I told everyone there I would post the sutras so here they are - The Five Sutras of the Aquarian Age - from the Teachings of Yogi Bhajan 1. Recognize the other person is you. 2. There is a way thought every block 3. When time is on you, start, and the pressure will be off. 4. Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times. 5. Vibrate the Cosmos, the Cosmos shall clear the path May we be guided by these sutras - these treads of wisdom that show us how to navigate through these complicated and stressful times. Please feel free to e-mail me questions from classes and I will post them with the answers. We can use this "news" section to create a community and conversation of spirit. Enjoy these days of light. Take time to get outside, walk on the earth, smell the coming spring, and take a deep breath! peace, Hari Tuesday, February 17th, 2004 11:47 AM EST
Sat Nam!
Dave and I have been teaching in New York City these past weeks. I have been meeting the wonderful students and teacher at Prana Mandir Yoga Studio. Lea Kramer is running a Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training there and we had a cozy and uplifting early morning Sadhana this past Saturday. I am loving New York! After a steep learning curve about the Metro and cabs and city blocks, I am zipping around the city pretty well, thanks to everyone, including the kind Sikh cab drivers giving me travel instructions, welcoming discussions and helpful hints! I hope to be teaching more in the city as time goes on and as Dave makes it his second home. Keep in touch and join me there. Meet the creative, inspiring teachers and yogis there and enjoy great food, conversation and spirit! Local News - Some great workshops coming up at the Yoga Center in Millis, An Aura Workshop with Gurucharan Singh, Ten Bodies workshop with Ek Ong Kar Singh, and a workshop in how to make deepen your practice of prayer and meditaiton on April 17th with me. Come and join me for deep meditation and a time to heal and grow and glow! Monday, October 6th, 2003 2:29 PM EDT

The Illumined Woman Weekend on Cape Cod was wonderful Over 30 women braved the cold early morning for a cozy yoga and meditation practice. The women created amazing an artwork mural. The cabins were cozy. We shared stories around the bonfire and by Sunday the sun was bright and we finished the weekend with a healing medation in the sunny field by the water. We are all looking forward to the next Illumined Woman Weekend...OCTOBER 25-26 - a beautiful time to be on Cape Cod. See you there, we will raise the roof with energy, laughter and spirit!
